Time for a frustration... Do they really think we have that kind of money?

Ok so at school (Fanshawe) they lease us laptops for the semester which is awesome. But with this comes some down sides. One is you cant opt out; It doesn't matter if you have your own or if you would prefer to get one to keep after your done it doesn't matter. This is a requirement. So they make you have it... I can deal with that. I can just get one for me after my years in the program are done.

At the beginning of the year they said that students would be able to keep there laptops over the Christmas holidays for a small fee. Makes sense i guess but now that it has come to that time i get an email saying that there is no additional fee. Awesome right? Not at all. I don't know if they think all of us starving students are independently wealthy but they expect us to pay our full second semesters tuition. I know some people have the luxury of having a wealthy family but i don't have the ability to go up to uncle Bert or whoever and say hey can i have $3000 because osap will not come in until next month. Its just not going to happen!

So i know they want to make sure that your not going to run off with the laptop because the fact that they have your next osap instalment coming to them or the fact that they have all your tax and licence information is not enough insurance for them. (you know case we are all going to flee the country for a $2000 lap top). So why cant they just make an exception for people on OSAP?

Come on guys give us a break or at least be up front at the beginning.

Signed...
Someone that is not going to have a computer over christmas

Dead Camera :-(

So on saterday morning i got up slaped on the nice 16-35 2.8L lens on and went to shoot. press the shutter button and... CRAP. The shutter is stuck. Ok lets calm down. (try to shake free) not working... spend the rest of the day trying not to think of the 2 projects you need to hand in sunday... then a gift from God came to me; I got an email. "the servers will be down until Monday" Yes! one day extension! So now that i am a little less stressed i get some sleep. off to church then food with family and friends at church and then sleep again. So now we are Monday morning. I head off to class do class stuff (got a crappy mark on my quiz). so i head off to photo loans to ask if they have a loner i can use till i get mine fixed to which i get the response "we have no canon bodies you can loan." well there gos plan "A" so on to plan "B". So i went off to henrys and went "its broken" and they say we can send it in. It will be $250 and you will be without a camera for 6 weeks. Im thinking "ok six weeks that's about three projects a week times six so only 18 projects to do without a camera" NOT going to work for me. So now plan "C"; time for a new camera but there is one problem with this im a student and osap is not in yet. Luckily they have a financing. I hate financing! but when you need something for school what can you do? So i signed my soul to the devil for a nice new camera. So now i have a new camera and am glad to say both assignments are done. Here are some pictures from my replacement camera.

So despite the stress and frustration the Lord provision shines through. Without him providing me with the additional time for my assignments and the ability to replace the camera so quickly. Praise him for he is amazing. Thank You Amanda for helping me look for the lords provition in this stressful time. You are truly a great friend.

Off to the fair

Hello again. I just finished my fair project. I had to got to the western fair and take pictures of what the fair means to me. I took two approaches to this. To me the best part of the fair is the bright colors and lights. So the two things i did were the bright colores of the rides and shows during the day and i did some at night with light trails. Both themes came out pretty good but the day time theme was much more impressive so i used that one. The lights where nice but in the project we where unable to use flash so anything outside the lights was really dark and wrecked the photos in my opinion. But over all it was a great day of shooting. I only one thing to say to others doing a fair shoot... Stay AWAY from the deep fried mars bars. Just dont do it.

Thats all for now.
Have a great time shooting

New lens

Today i got my firs loaner lens from the school. It is pretty cool. I only have it till tomorrow and that is sad but i took a few photos... not much thinking went into them just kinda wanted to get a feel for the lens. It is the Canon 70-200mm 4 L. so much better then all my other crappy lenses. I can actually get a sharp image!!!

I should probably let you know why i needed the lens. In my photography science class we have a project and we need a telephoto, standard and wide angle lens. I have all the lenses that i needed but seemed to be a good excuse to get my hands on some nice L glass. The project is photographing a car at different focal lengths and see the difference in the photos (distortion). that was pretty much all for today.

till next time...

Lets start with a frustration

Why is it when people move on in there lives they feel they need to cut the ties to the past? can we not move on and yet still keep out promises and integrity intact? I understand that when moving on some things are left behind. when you pass a tree you dont bring it with you. but what about the dog that has been with you. do you just leave it behind because you need to go forward? no you keep the dog as it has walked with you and has helped you. so when you move on do not break all ties to the past, as the past is part of your character. it is who you are. - just thinking out loud
