My Feet are in Pain

Hey everyone.

Well i finished a full week of work back at 7 11 and have one thing to say...  MY FEET ARE IN PAIN. hahaha...   It seems being off work for 9ish months has made my feet lazy.  But i will be ok.  Its getting better.

I am glad to be working again, hey money is important right?.  but i have been missing my camera.  I want to get out shooting again so i decided i would shoot myself last night.  I was a little out of it so dont expect to much from me :P.

I decided i would do a mix of flash and ambient.  Just a shot of me "watching TV", well actually staring into a strobe buy you know same difference.

Here is what i came out with

As i said nothing spectacular but hey i was tired.

Ok now im pretty sure i mentioned this in an other post but im not sure.  About 2 or 3 months ago i ordered a imac off of ebay and the seller was having shipping problems.  I have still not received it :/  but now it is a paypal claim and we will see how it goes.

Thats all for now.  feel free to comment on my picture :P

I think i need to post in this more often. Sorry guys, Here is an update.

Hey everyone just figured i would let you know whats up.

Needless to say i have completed my first year in my photography program and passed everything.  I have spent the past 2.5 months trying to find work(seems there is not a lot out there at the moment).  I had an interview at best buy last week however i have not yet received a phone call regarding a third interview so i have taken a position back at 7 eleven.  I would much rather Best Buy lol.  Due to the delay in getting work i will not be going back to school next year(maybe part time but not full time) due to the fact that i cant pay the tuition.

As for my photographic endeavors i am considering moving into a little restate photography.  The problem with that is i had to dive my macbook pro back to school and no longer have photoshop(i still have the gimp and that will work for now).  The other problem is i don't have a lens that is wide enough.  My solution to this is renting a lens from Henrys to begin shooting.

That's all i really have to say at this point. I will try to update a bit more frequently.

Past shoot Next shoot and my lost battery dilemma

Hey everyone it has been about a month from my last post.  Sorry about the delay between updated but i have been trying to get some work in on the weekends.  You know how it is,  needing money to live and what not lol.
So what have i been up to lately?  Not a lot really.  But i will let you know what i have done.  About 2 weeks back I did a community service shoot for a church cooking camp.  Nothing to fancy but her i like to shoot so i take what comes to me and i know the person so why not.  This was an interesting shoot as i have no space to work.  It was about 5ft by 8ft.  Im not joking i was bugging my umbrellas to get the shots.  All in all im pretty happy about the outcome of the photos.  Could have been better but i will let you decide.  Here are some for you to see.

So that was one of the few things i have done in the past month(i feel so unproductive).  But on the plus side i have a shoot planed for not this weekend but the one after.  I will be shooting the students of "Academy of Music and Dance" with Michael Willems.  I would like to thank both of them for this opportunity and i look forward to delivering my best photographic skills.  This will be a great learning experience for me as i will get so see how another more experienced photographer handles a large quantity shoot.
So as i said before i haven't done as much shooting as i would like to for myself.  I finally got some time to just shoot for me and i got my camera and flash and lighting crap just to relies....  CRAP!  I left my batteries in Kitchener.  That was not a good feeling.  I was so disappointed.  I can only hope i get some time over the next two weeks to shoot for me as i have some time off of classes.

So thats all for today i think.  I will be sure to let you all know how my shoot with Michael goes.
Till next time, Keep shooting

Been a while, But im back!

Hello everyone life got a little busy at the end of last semester so i have not updated this as i usually do. I am now finishing off the third week of this semester and so far it looks like it will be a much busier one. There are more assignments as well as some classes that will be interesting(im not one for english or history). But i will give you all a quick overview of what i have been up to.

So i left off complaining about the school wanting the entire tuition to use my MacBook Pro during the holidays. This problem was
resolved to something i could deal with. It seems the contact person was misinformed and we only needed the first $1000 so i was able to keep it over the holidays.

Not much happened over the holidays, mostly just running around to the various family events, you know how it goes. Aside from that i worke
d as much as i could to try to catch up on school expenses, still short by a long shot but i should be able to make it up over the summer. Did not do anything for new years just went to bed, yep
i'm that interesting :P.

And just a few things to show you before i head to bed(just to prove i'm not just sitting on my ass all day). At the beginning of the holidays i shot some smoke pictures.... nothing to fancy but i figured i would give it a try.
I have also have completed a buch of projects for this semester already. Most of them
are just technical and boring but we had a Chiaroscuro assignment and that was pretty cool. Here is the photo i submitted. Ok it seems you get the unedited version of it
as it seems the edited one was not saved or i cant find it(probably the second) but the original is not to bad :)

Time for a frustration... Do they really think we have that kind of money?

Ok so at school (Fanshawe) they lease us laptops for the semester which is awesome. But with this comes some down sides. One is you cant opt out; It doesn't matter if you have your own or if you would prefer to get one to keep after your done it doesn't matter. This is a requirement. So they make you have it... I can deal with that. I can just get one for me after my years in the program are done.

At the beginning of the year they said that students would be able to keep there laptops over the Christmas holidays for a small fee. Makes sense i guess but now that it has come to that time i get an email saying that there is no additional fee. Awesome right? Not at all. I don't know if they think all of us starving students are independently wealthy but they expect us to pay our full second semesters tuition. I know some people have the luxury of having a wealthy family but i don't have the ability to go up to uncle Bert or whoever and say hey can i have $3000 because osap will not come in until next month. Its just not going to happen!

So i know they want to make sure that your not going to run off with the laptop because the fact that they have your next osap instalment coming to them or the fact that they have all your tax and licence information is not enough insurance for them. (you know case we are all going to flee the country for a $2000 lap top). So why cant they just make an exception for people on OSAP?

Come on guys give us a break or at least be up front at the beginning.

Signed...
Someone that is not going to have a computer over christmas

Dead Camera :-(

So on saterday morning i got up slaped on the nice 16-35 2.8L lens on and went to shoot. press the shutter button and... CRAP. The shutter is stuck. Ok lets calm down. (try to shake free) not working... spend the rest of the day trying not to think of the 2 projects you need to hand in sunday... then a gift from God came to me; I got an email. "the servers will be down until Monday" Yes! one day extension! So now that i am a little less stressed i get some sleep. off to church then food with family and friends at church and then sleep again. So now we are Monday morning. I head off to class do class stuff (got a crappy mark on my quiz). so i head off to photo loans to ask if they have a loner i can use till i get mine fixed to which i get the response "we have no canon bodies you can loan." well there gos plan "A" so on to plan "B". So i went off to henrys and went "its broken" and they say we can send it in. It will be $250 and you will be without a camera for 6 weeks. Im thinking "ok six weeks that's about three projects a week times six so only 18 projects to do without a camera" NOT going to work for me. So now plan "C"; time for a new camera but there is one problem with this im a student and osap is not in yet. Luckily they have a financing. I hate financing! but when you need something for school what can you do? So i signed my soul to the devil for a nice new camera. So now i have a new camera and am glad to say both assignments are done. Here are some pictures from my replacement camera.

So despite the stress and frustration the Lord provision shines through. Without him providing me with the additional time for my assignments and the ability to replace the camera so quickly. Praise him for he is amazing. Thank You Amanda for helping me look for the lords provition in this stressful time. You are truly a great friend.
